Paul, Weiss Announces Election of Five New Partners

Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP announced that five new partners have been elected to the partnership effective January 1, 2014:  Ross A. Fieldston, Brian P. Finnegan, Jaren E. Janghorbani, Patrick N. Karsnitz and Jane B. O'Brien. Mr. Fieldston, Mr. Finnegan, Ms. Janghorbani and Mr. Karsnitz are resident in Paul, Weiss's New York office and Ms. O'Brien is resident in Paul, Weiss's Washington, D.C. office. 

"We are delighted to announce the election of these accomplished lawyers to partnership at our firm," said Brad S. Karp, chair of the firm. "They are outstanding lawyers in their respective practice areas, and will continue to serve the firm and our clients with distinction."

Ross Fieldston will become a partner in the corporate department, where he focuses on public company transactions, private mergers and acquisitions, proxy contests and joint ventures. Mr. Fieldston received his J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he was a Senior Editor of the Columbia Law Review and a James Kent Scholar and a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. Mr. Fieldston received his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa.

Brian Finnegan will become a partner in the corporate department, where he focuses on mergers and acquisitions and private equity. Prior to joining Paul, Weiss, Mr. Finnegan was commissioned into the Navy and served as a Naval Flight Officer and military advisor to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration's South American section. Mr. Finnegan received his J.D., with high honors, from George Washington University Law School, his M.B.A. from National University and his B.A. from American University.

Jaren Janghorbani will become a partner in the litigation department, where she works on a broad variety of commercial, criminal and regulatory matters. Prior to joining Paul, Weiss, Ms. Janghorbani held three clerkships: on the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York for the Honorable Kimba M. Wood; on the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit for the Honorable Dennis Jacobs; and on the United States Supreme Court for the Honorable Stephen G. Breyer. Ms. Janghorbani received her J.D. from Columbia Law School, where she served as an Editor of the Columbia Law Review and a James Kent Scholar, and her B.A. from Columbia University magna cum laude.

Patrick Karsnitz will become a partner in the tax department, where he works on a broad range of transactional matters. Prior to joining Paul, Weiss, Mr. Karsnitz clerked for Chief Justice Myron T. Steele of the Delaware Supreme Court. Mr. Karsnitz received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was elected Order of the Coif, and his B.A. from Salisbury University summa cum laude.

Jane O'Brien will become a partner in the litigation department, where she focuses on securities litigation, complex commercial disputes and antitrust matters. Prior to joining Paul, Weiss, Ms. O'Brien clerked for the Honorable Richard J. Holwell of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. Ms. O'Brien obtained her J.D. from New York University School of Law cum laude, where she served as an Associate Editor of the NYU Law Review, and her B.A. from Yale College with distinction.
